Vejer de la Frontera

You can find Antonio's Mediterranean Café in the heart of Vejer de la Frontera, a classic white village on a hilltop that has been officially declared an historic artistic monument of national importance. Vejer is one of the most enchanting and picturesque villages in Andalucia with a maze of narrow cobbled streets lined by dazzling white washed houses with hidden patios blooming with flowers.

Vejer is 10kms from the coast and is perched on a hill at 200 metres above sea-level, above the steep gorge of the river Barbate with views towards the Atlantic coast and Africa. This strategic position means visitors to the town have a number of places from where they can enjoy panoramic views of the town and beyond, including from Antonio's roof terrace dining area.

In Vejer you can enjoy many of the vibrant cultural activities and festivals that take place including Carnival, Semana Santa at Easter, Feria de Vejer, El Toro Embolao (Running of the Bulls) and the procession of Virgen de la Oliva. You can also experience a variety of cuisines in the many local restaurants and tapas bars and there are several artisan shops offering a wide selection of unique local and international arts and crafts.

Vejer is ideally located for sightseeing the culturally rich cities of Cadiz, Jerez and Seville. Vejer is situated in the Costa de la Luz, a nature lover's paradise given its proximity to many National Parks including Alcornocales and Donana. This luminous corner of south-west Spain is also popular for its miles of unspoilt fine sandy beaches, the nearest being located at El Palmar and Los Canos de Meca just 15 minutes away.
